Deeply committed to advancing education throughout his life, Dr. Lee Everett Monroe has led an inspiring career as a teacher and a senior administrator in several colleges.

Possessing skills and understanding gleaned from a long career in higher education, Dr. Lee Everett Monroe is credited with dramatically improving, and in some noted instances, saving academic institutions from financial or academic ruin.

Dr. Lee Everett Monroe served as President of Paul Quinn College in Texas. In his long and highly celebrated tenure in this role, Dr. Lee Everett Monroe developed a program that allowed the struggling school to avoid closure and regain accreditation. Combining an expertly negotiated debt reduction plan with an ambitious and successful fundraising campaign, Dr. Lee Everett Monroe secured the school’s financial future. In addition to his remarkable fiscal accomplishments in stabilizing the college, Dr. Lee Everett Monroe led the school in a dramatic overhaul of all academic programs. Dr. Lee Everett Monroe initiated and directed the school’s efforts to renovate and revitalize curriculum, adding significant courses in many vital areas such as art and music. Successfully partnering with other colleges, Dr. Lee Everett Monroe created career opportunities in engineering and technology fields for students of his college.

Dr. Lee Everett Monroe’s prior experience in school administration includes serving as Regional Educational Specialist for the United States Department of Justice. Subsequently taking on a number of roles of increasing responsibility, Dr. Lee Everett Monroe served as Director of the American Society of Planning Officials for the Ford Foundation Fellowship Program, and as Director of Institutional Advancement at Shaw University. Assuming the Executive Vice-Presidency of that school, Dr. Lee Everett Monroe is credited with steering its successful management of a financial crisis.

For many years, Dr. Lee Everett Monroe acted in the significant role of Senior Education Advisor to the Governor of North Carolina, Jim Martin. In this capacity, Dr. Lee Everett Monroe applied his considerable insight into the educational system to matters of public policy.

Most recently, Dr. Lee Everett Monroe served as President of Voorhees College, in South Carolina. Dr. Lee Everett Monroe’s passion about and devotion to education, and his lifetime of experience in the profession has made him a sought after and popular speaker.

Dr. Lee Everett Monroe obtained his undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Shaw University, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Dr. Lee Everett Monroe was awarded a Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati, and a doctorate in Educational Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
